KW_学习课程与改变外境(之二):为何你拼命想要世界更完美?

在分裂之初,我仰望着上主说:我只是个悲惨的二流小虫子。我如此渺小,而祂是个伟岸、自大、傲慢的家伙,我得露一两手给祂瞧瞧。于是我跑出去打造了一个巨大、完美的世界,包括这具身体和全部的一切,还有这个自我。结果却都瓦解掉了。随之升起的就是那个恐怖的念头:我错了。上主才是拥有一切力量的人。这真叫我无法忍受。

所以我拼了命也要试着让世界变得更好。这就是所有那些有乌托邦愿景的人内心的想法,我们称之为好的;或者像希特勒那样的人,虽然我们称之为坏的,但他也有自己的乌托邦理想。总之,我们一直在努力做得更好,用自己的方式埋头苦干,结果却从未成功过,因为它就是设定成不会成功的。一旦我的出发点是认定自己为二等公民,那么我所做的一切必定都会失败。练习手册第328课,我是当作冥想来用的:“我选择次位,却获得了首位。”所以我们根本就不在次位上。

我说上主是造物主,这是个天大的好消息,因为我只要在祂的爱中休憩,就处在了首位。可是一旦我说自己排在第二位,那我就完了,表明我已经对自己做出了判断。这是第一个判断。紧接着,我把它投射到上主身上,说这是上主的错。这是第二个判断。之后,一切都完了。我做的每件事都是错的,注定不会成功。

因此整个课程的重点,与试图改变世界上的任何事情毫不相干。课程的要义就是教我们不要这么做,因为这根本就是徒劳无功。有一节课讲到了疾病,足见我们有多傻——我们终其一生拼命努力想要让这个身体好起来,想要征服所有的疾病,但它终将难逃一死。

你最终得到了什么?只是一些生命的渣滓,那一文不值。并且它根本算不上是生命,身体完全是虚构的。课程并不是说我们应该遭受身体之苦,或不吃止痛药等等,它只是说不要妥协于此,因为那不是天国。天国是忆起我是上主之子,这绝对是个好消息。

学员

对于这个外境变化的问题,我还是有点困惑。如果身体生病了,我就去找圣灵帮我消除罪咎,然后我练习宽恕以治愈身体,身体就成了我心灵状态的反映。再换个角度讲,如果身体没有好起来,那也无妨,我仍然可以有内心的平安,但我还是得把身体作为一种衡量的标准。

肯恩

不,不是以你讲的第二点来作为衡量标准。你说的第二点的核心在于,我的身体状况根本无关紧要,因为身体本来就不会生病。疾病是我心中的罪咎。或者以这次工作坊的内容来说,生病是权威问题所致。这就是症结所在,我的身体状态无关紧要。无论身体的症状是否消失,我仍然拥有上主的平安。所以身体绝对不是衡量指标。

学员

课程会说,你甚至不需要知道是怎么回事。当你感到不舒服时,就去找圣灵吧。可若不用身体来评估,你怎么知道自己不舒服?

肯恩

我们就是会用身体来评估,这是在所难免的,但正如你说的,这是一个陷阱。如果我真的与圣灵结合,就不会掉进陷阱,无论我身边或身体发生了什么事,我都会很平安。这才是衡量指标。

2-08 Questions: Learning the Lesson versus Changing the Form

 

And then the world starts falling apart, and I say, oh my god, I didn’t do it. Oh my god, God is better than I am. And that’s awful because that means I am right back where I started from – a miserable, second-class little worm. [Laughter]  Was that emphatic enough? But that’s the original perception of the ego.


I look up to God. I say I’m a miserable, second-class little worm. That’s what I am. And He’s this great big, pompous, arrogant person. And I’ll show Him a thing or two so I go out and I leave Him and I make up this great big wonderful world and this body and everything else and this self. And then it falls apart. And so that horrifying thought is I was wrong. God is the one with all the power, and I can’t stand that.

 

And so what I desperately try and do is to make it better, and that’s what’s behind all these people who have these utopian visions which we call “good” or people who have – like a Hitler who had his utopian vision which we call “bad.” And we’re always trying to doit better and to do it our way. And we just keep trying and trying. And it never ever works because it’s set up not to work because once I begin with the perception that I’m a second-class citizen, everything I do must fail. And the value of that Workbook lesson I read as a meditation is “I choose the second place to gain the first.” It’s not second place at all.

 

And my saying that God is the Creator is wonderful news, and I just rest within His Love and that puts me in the first place.But once I say I’m in the second place, I am finished because I have already made a judgment against myself. That’s the first judgment. Then immediately after that I project it onto God – it’s God’s fault. That’s the second judgment. And after that, it’ s all finished. And everything I do is going to be wrong, and nothing is going to work.

 

So that the whole focus of the Course has nothing to do with trying to change anything in the world. Its whole purpose is to teach us not to do that because it’s absolutely futile. It explains in one section talking about sickness how silly the whole thing is that we strive so desperately to get this body well again and to conquer all disease, but it’s going to die.

 

So what do you gain? You’re gaining a few crumbs of life, and that’s nothing. And it’s not even life in the first place. So the whole thing is made up. And the Course is not saying that we should suffer physically or not take painkillers, etc. It’s simply saying is don’t settle for that because that’s not the Kingdom of Heaven. The Kingdom of Heaven is remembering that I’m God’s child and that’s wonderful news. That’s not terrible news.

 

Q.:  I’m still a little confused about this issue of external changes. If the body is sick, then I go to the Holy Spirit for help in removing my guilt and then I practice forgiveness in order to heal the body. And then the body becomes a reflection of what’s going on in my mind. However on the other hand, if the body doesn’t get well, that’s still okay. I can still have peace of mind. Yet I’m still using the body as a kind of measuring stick.

 

Ken:  No, not by the second thing. You see, the whole point of the second thing you’re saying is that the state of my body is irrelevant because my body is not sick in the first place. That sickness is the guilt in my mind. Or in the context of this weekend, sickness is the authority problem. That’s the problem. The state of my body is irrelevant. And so whether my physical symptoms disappear or not, I still have the peace of God, so that the body is never the criteria.

 

Q.:  The Course would say that you really don’t even have to know what’s going on. Just go to the Holy Spirit when you feel the discomfort. And so how do you know if you don’t use the body as a measuring stick?

 

Ken: Well I think we do inevitably, but that’s a trap, just as you said. See I think what’s not a trap is that if I really join with the Holy Spirit, I’ll be peaceful regardless of what goes on around me or within my body. So that’s the criteria.
